Nodding onion is a perennial native wildflower recognized for its graceful, drooping flower heads. It belongs to the onion family (Amaryllidaceae) and is one of the most ornamental native Allium species in North America. It pairs well with prairie grasses, coneflowers, blazing stars, black-eyed susans, and other summer-blooming native perennials. It is drought tolerant once established and spreads slowly by both seed and small bulbs.
